International Women’s Day is that moment each year when we celebrate women’s achievements and reflect on progress.

Within living memory in the UK, women couldn’t own property or open a bank account without a man’s signature.

Fast‑forward to 2026.

Women are CEOs, founders, investors, directors… We run businesses, homes, teams, calendars, lunchboxes, and emotional stability for entire households.

But when it comes to pensions and investments? I’m still hearing:

“I’ll let my partner handle that.”
“I’m not good with money.”
“It all seems confusing.”
“I don’t have the time.”

This is from the same women who can organise last minute World Book Day outfits, with the skills of a West End costume designer, mediate with toddlers with the skill of a hostage negotiator and find lost shoes with the skills of a Canadian Mountie.  Ability isn’t the issue; confidence is. That, and the fact that financial jargon makes the world of economics far easier to gatekeep. SIPP, ISA, LISA, VCT, EIS; it’s a secret code we are now cracking.

Women often have the ability to multitask and think long‑term.

There’s no choice without freedom and no freedom without the financial means to support your choices.

It’s about knowing what you have, what it’s doing, and how it can grow.
